300 dollar bass

hey guys so i just got 300 bucks for my birthday and im looking in to some basses cuz my rockwood(its a hohner starter bass) is well not the best but its got me going, and i want to buy a new bass, and im looking in to a epi t-bird, but i dont know, any bass you people think are good and around 300.
PS ill be playing it through a kustom kba100 amp too if that helps thanks

Check out the Squier line. Vintage Modified, Classic Vibe, or even used MiM Jazz or P basses.

Not sure what they run in the US but the Squier Vintage Series is great for the dough. I think they around the $300 mark. There are tons of threads on here about them.

Put me on the VM or CV froms squier as well. Played them all and have to say that they sound great, and for the money you can't go wrong.

Well if you don't mind buying used you could get some older USA Peavey basses.

$300 would get you a used MIM Fender Jazz or P and whenever you were ready to step up to another bass in the future you could get all your money back out of it.

I would go with an SX, and then upgrade the pickups. You'd probably still have a little $$ left over as well.

other than that go used

but most likely a used MIM Fender is the best bang for the buck

Well if it's looks your after ie:the bird then you will have to search the used market. If you want a bass that is great value for the money and has great tone then all the above posts about Squier or used Fender is the way to go.

Yeah, in that price range, if you arent wanting something Fender-esque, its going to be hard to find both looks and tone.

Thats easy,

Thicker, heavier strap.
Move the strap buttons.
Change the tuners to ultra lights.

I bought an Active Peavey Millenium BXP (Tigers Eye top) for $329. The passive version is under $300. The necks and fretwork are very good. The action is set very low, so you may have to adjust it a little. Two 1/4 turns of the truss rod counter clockwise made the action perfect (no fret buzz). I loosened the strings and only did a single 1/4 turn. I let it set for a couple of days and repeated one more time. The active electronics are very quiet as well.

You tube has lots of video demos from other people who bought them. You might want to take a look.
