32 scale string questions

I read the info at bassstringsonline.com about whether I need medium or long scale strings for my Aria RSB series II 32 scale bass.

It says "measure from the ball end to just past the nut"....."if 34 inches or under you need medium scale strings".

So the determining factor is the actual length must be under 34 inches from the ball to just past the nut on the fret side of the nut...correct?

Obviously I have few choices in 32 scale strings.

Do you folks know of any 34 scale strings that have silks that start at 34 1/4 to 35 inches on the E & 34 1/4 to 37 inches on the A string?

I am curious what 34 scale strings might fit my 32 Aria bass.

Finally I have a set of GHS long scale strings on the bass at the moment and only the E & A string have the windings around the post....D & G strings are okay with plenty of silk left before the tuning post.

Ball to taper is the important measurement. The string should taper between the nut and the tuner. Never on the fret side of the nut.

Some B and E strings will break if the non-tapered part is wound around small diameter tuning posts.

I haven't had any issues with this Aria 32 scale bass and the longscale strings.

I have a bunch of different long scale sets a few of which are used.....I want to try some heavier strings on this bass.

Something tells me I may go with a heavier flatwound set....I really dig the Fender 9050 SS flats on my Peavey Foundation for example.

My Eden Metro has a ton of power and excellent bass EQ so dialing in a good bottom on thia 32 scale Aria hasn't been a problem.

If your Aria is anything like my Aria, I actually found that 32" scale strings didn't fit my Aria CSB properly because the length of string over the bridge is quite long on these basses, like 1-1.5" inches more than on your usual bass bridge. So the only strings that fit correctly were standard long scale strings. In fact, if you look at the Aria CSB headstock, you'll notice that the E and G tuners are a good 2 inches beyond the nut, so there is pretty much no chance that a standard 34" scale string will not work on an Aria CSB because the length from tuner to ball end is probably just as long as any standard scale bass.

Looking at pictures of the RSB, though, it does seem that RSB doesn't have quite as much extra string length as the CSB.
