35inch scale bass strings

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
check out page 4. they say long scale will do 34-36 in scale basses.
super long will do 36-38.

No, those numbers refer to the winding length, D'Addario publish this guide:

"Step 1. Mark the lowest gauge string at the nut with a marker.

Step 2. Remove the string and measure from the mark to the inner edge of the ball end & refer below.

Up to 32" D'Addario Short Scale

32"-34" D'Addario Medium Scale

34" - 36" D'Addario Long Scale

36" - 38" D'Addario Super Long Scale"

You need Super Long for 35" through-body, they do a 50-135.

I use D'Addario XL Chromes for both a Warwick Corvette $$5 and a Lakland 55-01 (but you must bridge- or top- load the strings to stay within the XL limits and it is very close on the Lakland 35" scale).

The Sadowsky XL's (Black Label SS) are actually a tad too long for the Warwick 34" scale as I had about a 3/4 winding of full thickness string on the B-String post....not great for intonation.

"i wonder if it is ok for 35" bass to have 34" strings..."

Yes. GHS Brite Flats in 34" scale could easily fit a 35er, but not string-through-body AND 35" scale. On the GHS website their Precision Flats, in 34" scale, seem to also be quite long for 34".

Just strung my bass with DR 'lo-riders' and am VERY pleased with the fit and the tone. They have no taper and are handmade, and the E string is heavier than the blue steels I mentioned in my previous post. As someone else mentioned, they claim that all of their strings fit basses from 34"-36" scale. They certainly fit my 35" string through 4 string.
