39 minutes album is too short???

It will have 8 songs that we are finishing recording.
Our style is hard rock with some progressive, pop and metal influences. It is our first LP....
Some of our influences are Bon Jovi, Iron Maiden, Soda Stereo, Deep Purple, some funk and some neoclassical bands.

Do you think it is too short????

We are leaving out 4 songs for our second recording...

A total running time of 39 minutes is not too short for a full length album. Most LPs ran 35-45 minutes.

It's your album, make it the way you want it! if 8 songs / 39 minutes suits you, it's fine!!

We do not live in the 80s anymore where we had to play covers to fill in the remaining free time of a record

Agree. i prefer to listen to 30-40 minutes of good songs rather than 74 minutes of some good songs with a lot of filler.

I prefer an album to be 40 minutes to an hour, usually coming closer to 45 minutes, but there are exceptions on both sides. Look at Tool's first EP. It's only 26 minutes and it rocks. Do you.

What a 39 minute album does is leave time for that killer song that you write after the other recording is already done but you reallly want to put it on the album anyways.

Buck 65's latest album has fourteen songs on it and is only 4:27 in length (an extreme example, I know). People's attention spans are getting shorter so I wouldn't worry about it.
