I really want the bootsy/claypool bubble. 5sg would you be able to post sound clips with the decay in different positions? Spencer would it be possible to mod an original for faster decay? I do love the sound otherwise.

It's fuzzy, but best I have, the GR-2 is beside the MuRF. Don't really see why a picture is necessary, but c'est la vie.

The old Mutrons have a pretty slow decay - that's what I modeled the Proton after. I could make one with a faster decay if you'd like.

Well, I've played with one of the original Mutrons, so I knew what I was getting into when I ordered the Proton. It's just something I need to get used to, you know? It really does have just enough of a different vibe from the Regulators to warrant keeping it to.

Slap, I can sure do some clips with the two different decay settings, but probably won't be able to get to it until this weekend sometime. It's annoying how life has a way of getting in the way of life! lol

Spencer, certainly nice of you to offer a mod! But doesn't that essentially become a "Mini GR2" then? (No offense meant, Slap ) I think you should leave the Proton the way it is... different filter offerings for different tastes.

None taken 5sg. I never tried a gr or gr2, the shops around me never heard of 3leaf so I bought the proton based on spencers YouTube video. I am completely satisfied with the pedal as is but the ability to get more bubbles out of it would be even better. I also run it on 9v and 12v sometimes so that feature is great.

#3 clubber here: STILL have my GR-445 MK-I and its never leaving! Use the effects loop and it really sounds amazing no matter what (deep bubbles, quacks, laser, beeps, bloops, baby-making music...)

20 minute plug-n-play first impression:

The PWNZOR is competing for a spot on my board against an EBS MultiComp.

It has ratio and gain controls like the MComp but the ratio on the PWNZOR goes higher. You can really crush the life out of your tone at settings above 3o'clock.

Liking the vintage switch. Provides a preset high and low compression behavior in much the same way as the MComp switch. Noticably more compression in Vintage mode. Have to spend more time with this pedal to learn the differences.

Standard mode provides instant PUNCH. Briefy compared it side by side with the MComp. Sure, they both provide instant punch. The MComp punched lower in gut, whereas the PWNZOR jabbed to the sternum with a touch of midrange sweetness.

Im going to find the adjustable input gain to be very beneficial for my high output basses. It provides way more control than the active/passive switch on the MComp.

'Attack' knob is nice for fine tuning. Kept it set at noon most of the time and backed it off to 10o'clock when I wanted more of the full note bloom to come through. Set at full clockwise compression was instantaneous.

Playing with setting 'Input' and 'Attack' at each extreme of the knob made some effect-like compression release sounds.

The LED is provides responsive feedback and looks cool. Glows green with a small burning ember inside, or strobes red to green to red when digging in.

Just discovered 3Leaf on a trip up to Seattle and Bass Northwest. Grabbed a GR2 - #028! I don't have a pic of the box with the effect, but I do have this:

Ibanez SR506 through the GR2 and later through a Fodera x_Caliper compressor, direct into ProTools. I think I had the mix set about half-and-half - the Mastotron isn't on in this clip - but I will have something later!

That's exactly the sound I'm looking for out of my GR2. What are your settings?

I'm digging the 'Attack' around 10 or 11 o'clock as you mentioned it letting the notes bloom. Notes definitely sound full at that level. I like the 'Ratio' cranked so far. If the internal input trim is maxed, I think the gain is around 23dB....pretty loud (be careful!).

My personal favorite setting is attack at 12 o'clock, ratio at 10 o'clock, input around 1:30 and vintage mode on or off depending on how punchy I want it to be. I also set the internal release control for a really fast release, which may or may not work for most players. This is a recipe for instant punch and thickening of your bass tone. I recorded an album yesterday with these settings, going direct to the board, and it sounded REALLY good in the mix (especially with a pick).

I thought it might be a hair more than 20dB when I compared it to the boost on my Rusty Box. The Gain is fierce. I'm planning on keeping it relatively low settings-wise. My little practice amp wasn't quite up to the challenge.

I'll definitely try those settings out then (seeing as I'm using a pick more and more these days). I appreciate the ease of use of the internal controls. Thanks for the info! And thanks for a pretty cool pedal so far!
