3x12 Fender Bass Cab ?

Ran across this oddity from the late 60's. One of the briefly made Fender Solid State labeled cab and heads. This is the cab only. It belongs to the seller's uncle and he knows little about. The tag on the back has SPK 0312, speaker impedance 12 ohms, total impedance 4 ohms. Please share any opinions, information and experience that you may have. :)

I’ve never seen one but the label means that each of the three drivers are 12Ω. Wired in parallel that results in a 4Ω load to the amp. Ampeg uses the same idea with the eight 32Ω drivers in the 8x10. All wired in parallel for 4Ω.

You can use the cabinet with either tube or SS amps.

I still have my set up It has a 100 watt solid state head and 3 12" cabinet. I can get you pics tomorrow......we used to laugh at these amps in the 60's because they farted square waves, but I hooked it up not too long ago and it sounded pretty good as long as you don't distort it. They made a whole line of these amps, I've got a Deluxe, Pro and a Super reverb. they made a pa and a Twin reverb.......I don't know why I have kept them all these years!!!!

Solid state Bassman was very interesting indeed. Using Fet transistor for the input preamp and had a transformer based phase splitter for the quasi complimentary output stage. likewise 12" speakers for bass are the new thing...nah most likely anything has already been done by Fender 10 to 40 years before you thought of it.

oren ,
the bassman has the original speakers in it but it would take an hour to unscrew the back. the speakers are the standard ones used in the late 60's with the black frame and the blue label on the back with fender on it.
