may i suggest a used Carvin? you might be able to find a used Carvin on Ebay or the likes for a price like that. Carvins are nice, but their resale value sucks.

I'll second that one. I have two 6-string Carvins and they are fantastic. You can often find a few of them on Ebay, and sometimes they are only very lightly used. I paid $1,400 for my first 6-string Carvin about ten years ago, I just bought my other one six months ago on Ebay for $775 and it was like-new.

CORT A6

The A6 is a great beginner 6-string bass. Its pricer then some at like 1000$ and the onboard preamp sucks, but the playability is superb and all the notes are consistent enough.

Its not in the same category as a custom or anything but its a nice bass.

I'd go for either the Ibanez BTB or Spector Legend. Just with the Ibanez shop around until you've found something good because their quality can vary at times.

Personally, I would say ANY Carvin, as long as it has active pickups and is at least 15 years old or newer. Personally I like the ones made within the last five years, but really only because I like "like new" but used basses for affordability.

that trb looks distinctly like the patitucci model.you would save big.go with yammy.it better....MUCH better than the peavey

I would say, in this order, Ibanez BTB 6 string rolleyes: I wonder why), Yamaha JM sig, and Peavey.
The BTB choice is obvious. The Yammy felt nice when I played a used one at GC, but has a VERY thin neck and tight spacing. That doesn't bother me, but it may to some. I've only played one Peavey bass, and it was a 6 string Fury (IIRC ?). Very lightweight, nice feel. Played unplugged though.

IIRC, I've played a BTB 4 or 5 string before.

Right now, of the basses I played and liked .. all were 5 strings but close to the 6 string models I want:

Yamaha RBX375
Peavey Grind 5
G&L 1505(though they don't have 6 string basses, it was REALLY NICE)

I hate not being able to play the things you want to play.
