So, I'm looking for a moderately priced 6 string bass, like a lot of post we've all seen.

I've done searchs and reseach and plan on playing every bass I can, but here is what I've found that looks good so far..

Yamaha RBXJM(1)(not the new signature series)
Ibanez BTB 506
Peavey Grind 6
Dean Edge Q6
ESP B206
Spector Legend Classical 6

I'm looking for a bass with low action, clean and clear tone, and even tone from B string to C string. Active is better then passive, personally, but if it sounds good, it sounds good. I'd like it to be good enough quality, that if I take care of it and treat it nice like I do with all my instruments, it'll last me 4+ years. I play at church, so I need the B string. But, I'm in a combo group playing different styles of music and i do a lot of solo-ish/chordish stuff in there, so the C string is a nice plus.

Most expensive bass on my list I saw was 700$... but under that is always good.

Please don't tell me not to get a sixer for this or that reason, or because I've only been playing for 2 years.

Please comment yay or nay and why on the basses on my list and maybe recommend another to look at.

may i suggest a used Carvin? you might be able to find a used Carvin on Ebay or the likes for a price like that. Carvins are nice, but their resale value sucks.

i can't really comment on any of the ones you listed, but i know the BTB series in general is nice. spacing is a little wide for me, but you might like that.

You can find the John Myung bass on ebay for cheap all the time. Not a bad bass. I haven't tried the ESP but it looks pretty good. The Dean has a good rep as well.

I think they are all pretty comparable, its really up to you what feels right. I would go with the Yamaha. Good quality control.

I think it's a bit over the $700 mark, but have you considered a Yamaha TRB1006? I was set on getting one, until I decided that I really didn't need a low B, so I got a TRB1005 had it modified for EADGC instead.

Both the '05 and '06 are excellent basses though. Reasonably light weight for the size, a good neck, great balancing, and what a tone! Full and balanced with fantastic clarity and body. I was planning on changing out the preamp and/or pickups, but right now I'm happy with this bass just the way it is. Excellent recorded tone as well.

if you can find a used cirrus go for that. i played a brand new model in a store today. the pickups were the same height and radius as the fretboard. nice bass! out of your price range new though (this one was about 2000)

And Anthony, I saw that. Struck my interest. I'm not sure if I've played a TRB or not yet. I think I might have played a 5 string TRB. But, I don't remember clearly.

I think I'm leaning for a used 6 string Yammy or the Preavey Grind 6 if I can play the 6 string version before I buy it. Played the 5, it was cool.
