4 / 5 string dilemma

So for my first 3 years of bass playing I played 4 strings. These last 2 years I've mixed 4, 5 and 6 strings. 6 strings I feel were maybe 1 too many - I didn't know what to use that high C for. I recently came round to the idea of playing 6 strings again - as long as the body was light (ish!) and had a slimmer neck than last time.
Oh dear. Nope - so that put me off 6 strings forever.
ATM I have my Ibanez GSR205 which I love and can get all the tones out of it I want, but:
I hardly use that B string. Even in band practces, I usually tune the E down to a D has I think it sounds better. And still, there's nothing in my bands incredibly vast (cough) repertoire of songs that goes lower than a D!
I'm buying a new bass (courtesy of my 18th birthday bank swipe) and will be the most expensive bass I've bought, since I never have money.
Should I go for a 4 stinger, knowing it would be slightly higher spec than the 5 stringer (the one I'd buy) and I know I'll always have my GSR205 has a back-up. Or stick with 5 strings and buy one of them.

Thanks.

I think you answered your own question. You don't use the B, and you have a back up 'just in case'. I'd go with a 4, which are easier to play imo, and as you said cheaper (or get higher spec for same price).

That's what I would do anyway. But I do not know what you plan to do in the long run. Stick with 4 strings? Wanna explore the 5 strings? E-C tuning?
