4 bolt neck, 5 bolt body

hey guys,

Pretty much as the title says.

I am looking at making my own custom jazz from separated parts online. Starting with a Fender Jazz Deluxe MIA body, just the body. Which has a 5 bolt neck. But the 5 bolt neck is more expensive than the body.

So I was wondering if a 4 bolt neck would fit up fine if I add that instead? I just don't want to run into any issues when I am assembling.

Might wanna do some Google and make sure that the Deluxe bass has the same number of frets up to the butt of the neck heels as a standard 4 bolt neck. I think the Deluxe series takes a 22 fret neck, and standard is 20/21.

ahh ok I will check that out. I didn't think about that.

If it does and it looks fine against the neck would it just be like drilling new holes into the neck to bolt it in?

Yes, if the number of frets matches up, you can just plug the old neck holes and drill new ones.
