4 conductor wiring diagram please

hey all

i am after a 4 conductor wiring diagram for a soapbar.
it is a bartolini quad coil, 4 conductor soapbar

for each pickup, i plan on having toggle switches, to switch between single coil north/single coil south (aka treble/bass), and series and parallel

so i think thats a 3 way toggle switch for the former (including the off position) , and a 2 way for the latter. (i may be wrong, i have a limited grasp of electronics)

any better ideas besides a rotary or a 4 way?

Be sure the series/parallel switch is set to series if you go to a single coil mode, otherwise the output will mute.

This does not seem practical, however. Personally, I would do series/single coil/parallel switches for each pickup and be done with.

thanks for the quick reply.

if i were to go with your suggestion, the series/single/parallel, which of the two coils would sound better?
and by better i guess 'more similar to a J bass'

the soap bars i've got are quad coils, does that make a difference?

It is impossible to know, when the specific pickups in question have not been specified, and nor has their application been determined. You must also account for personal taste.

FWIW, there is likely to be little difference between coils of the neck pickup, but changes in coil placement make a much greater difference in bridge pickups, given the fact that you are relatively close to the end point of the strings. The audible difference between north and south coils will be most pronounced when playing two pickups together, however, as there will be slight phase differences between the coils that allow for various constructive and destructive interferences of the output waveforms. Outer coils will sound more "phasey" than inner coils.

I would be inclined to go for outer coils if the pickups are close together, or inner coils if they are far apart.
