Did a search but could not find anything.

Looking for a list/recommendations for a SINGLE 4 ohm cab.

I just picked up a used Yorkville XS400H and want to have something to put under it to get the full 400 watts without having to cart around two cabinets.

Single 15's or 2 x 12's preferred; not sure about the low end with 10's.

Really depends upon what you're after. What sound are you going for? What are your must haves?

Normally for a single cab solution, I would recomend a Berg cab but 400 watts isnt gonna push it hard enough. I would recomend a Neo cab that is efficient. I also concur that you may wanna look into 10's as they can put out a TON of low end just as well as a 12 or 15.

I know what your saying about 10's. A 4 x 10 can really rock. But I don't want something that physically large.

I have a Yorkville combo (XM200T) with 2 x 10's and it sounds pretty darn good but even better with the 15 extension cab under it. That all stays in the rehearsal space.

For my other projects and for gigging I want to use the XS400H and not have more than one cab to lug along with it.

I'm a little hesitant to go for a 2 x 10 given what I know the XM200 sounds like alone. Which is good, don't get me wrong but I want more low end especially for gigging.

The 210XST is a great cab for its size, efficiency, and tight lows and voicing throughout the spectrum, but I'd lean towards recommending a 212XLT. I've so been missing mine since I blew a driver in it - I've been gigging a Berg NV610 which is not a bad cabinet by any definition, but I still miss the212XLT. It so capably responds to my touch, from buttery smooth and refined to growly and aggressive.

212XLT, 4 ohms, 400W, especially if you dig the feel of 12s over 10s. Bryan might even agree with me.

I can't recommend having Don at LDS build you cab highly enough. 2-12's and 2-6's at 4 ohms and you'd be in 7th heaven. My LDS is every bit on par with Accugroove, Berg, Epi, etc... for a lot less money. They don't have a 'signature' sound, so be sure to go over your tonal goals with Don and he'll build it to match those. If you go NEO with the 12s (B&C for mine) you'll save a ton of weight.

Avatar cab specs on the Steamco website show the 212 and the 410 as having the same physical dimensions. If you want smaller you'll have to go with a 112, 115 or 210. (but the 115 probably won't be a whole lot smaller)

I'm partial to Peavey 115's with Black Widow speakers. (they make 4 and 8 ohm versions) I come across used ones for $150-200 all the time. In fact, a local shop has a new one on sale for $200.

My favourite cabinet is an Acme Sound B2. 2x10 three way cab rated at 4 ohms 350W. They give the best low end of any cabinet I have ever played through. The power from your amp would be ideal to drive one. I own four, usually only use two but mostly could do the gig with one. Please don't use the Yorkville 2x10 as a comparison. There are so many better 2x10s out there.

Standard offer: If you can get down here to Scarborough (just a hop, skip and a jump down the 401), bring your bass, your amp head and try them through one of my cabs. I think you'll be glad you did.

Thanks Bassman. I've been running down to Toronto a bit too often lately so I'll take a raincheck on that offer.

I checked the specs on the Avatars. It's true the 2x12 is the same dimensions as the 4x10 (though the latter weighs more and is getting up there in terms of my comfort level).

Now I'm also looking at their SB112 Neo cab. I like the size and weight.

Rated at 250 watts RMS, does that mean my 400 watt head (which will be putting the full power into the 4 ohm cab) would be too much (noob question, I know).

I play passive basses, mostly my P reissue.
