4 ohm single cabinet?

I'm not sure if any of you saw my thread a few weeks ago about gigging without a car, but it's a situation I will definitely be in this fall.

I feel I'm good enough to start gigging in the twin cities where I go to McNally Smith College of Music, but without a vehicle, my Ampeg 4x10 and SVT Head isn't getting on the bus!

I'm going to sell away all my beloved equipment, and purchase an equally powered, but much lighter rig. I really would like this head: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gallien-Krueger-MB2-500-Ultra-Light-Bass-Amplifier-Head-104845599-i1395936.gc

It gets 300 watts at 8 ohms, and 500 at 4. What I'm having a hard time finding is a somewhat compact 4 ohm cabinet, (under 65 lbs or so?)

Any suggestions?

If you've got the money, you might consider a Schroeder 15+L. Very small and light, and super loud. There's a big thread on them here somewhere that you can find if you search.

I'd suggest something with a couple of drivers, like a 2x12, but I've heard that new 15L Schroeder cab kills.

I would suggest looking at neo 2x12s.
The Schroeder 1210L and 1212L will also give you a whole lot of oomph in a compact package.

I heard an EA whizzy 1x10 one time that sounded great. BagEnd 1x12 or 1x15 both kill, but may be too heavy. The Shroeder cab is really nice, but I like the musicality of some different cabs (BagEnd, Mesa, Aggie). The Mesa walkabout 12 combo could serve you well... small, relatively light, sounds huge. It's not a 4x10, but then again, it can ride the bus w/ you. Also you can pull the head for gigs where you can drag your 4x10 to.

I have had good experience with Ampeg Portabass cabinets. They are no longer in production but seem to be readily available on ebay and TB classifieds. I am currently using two Portabass 12's under a GenzBenz 3.5 NeoPac.

I use the EA Micro300 (the Micro 550 is now available - I have it ordered from Bob Gollihur) with the EA Wizzy 10. The Micro and the Wizzy10 fit into a backpack as shown.

There is also a Wizzy 12 but no backpack feature.

For portability and TONE I love the Shuttle6.0 and NeoX112. It is an 8 ohm cabinet but the 375 watts the 6.0 gives you is enough to power a lot situations... a lot more than you would think. This picture shows the ShuttleMax12.0 but the 6.0 is much smaller and weighs 3.75 pounds

Well, Avatar makes some fairly lightweight cabs..And from what I've heard, they are of outstanding quality in respects to both build and sound!
And they're inexpensive as well!

The Wizzy 12 is terrific and for more power/money, I would recommend the Accugroove 210L.

Light is good, no doubt... but play before you pay - and buy USED!
