4 String that sounds like 5 String ??

OK... I am a bit confused and need guidance from the more experienced players...
I had to figure out a song for the new band I am in...
Some Kind of Wonderful... except not by the original artist, GFR ..
They want to do the live version from Joss Stone..You can find it on YouTube...

The problem that is goofing my brain... is watching the bass player play a 4 String bass but my ears are hearing the 5 string bass.... low B string..
Bass player kind of looks pissed and very serious in the video, I figured he asked for a 5 string bass and they delivered a 4 string by mistake...so he re-strung the 4 string with the lower 4 strings of a 5 string..
I stopped the video in multiple spots and I did confirm it is a 4 string bass...
The best I can do with my 4 string bass I basically do a run from the C on the 3rd fret down to the F on the 1st fret back and forth... C-Bb-A-G-F, F-A-Bb-B-C ...
Any suggestions..???
I just found the bass player's name: Pete Iannacone
Thanks..

Ummmmmmm.......
Nah. Look at his hand position. He is almost always in first position. If he were hammering away on an open E with an octaver it would be barely audible sub bass. You would feel it more than hearing it.

4 banger tuned BEAD? Is your band insisting on playing the song in this key?

Seems more likely if not just a really beefy tone. I would have to try to learn some of it to be sure.

She and that band are BA to me.

Could also be tuned down a half or whole step.

Almost nothing that's professionally shot live has completely live audio. I'm sure the audio was doctored in the studio after the fact. Everyone does that. Most live albums aren't really quite live for that reason. Some live albums have been completely re-recorded, and the only live thing about it is the audience. "KISS - Alive" is an example of extreme "fixing" like that.
