Hi,
I have 4 strings set of DR hi beams ordered for my 4 strings j bass l sold, and l have B string sitting from previous set.. l am thinking to put them on my 5 strings jazz 4+1. Do you know if length of E string and others would be a problem, as tuning post is more far away from the nut than on 4 strings ?
Hope you see what l meant

Do you mean you've used and already cut these strings to length? If so they may or may not fit, you'll just have to try it to find out. If the strings are new they should be fine.

You won't have any problem installing a 4-strings set on a 5-string bass as long as they're still new and uncut. The total length of DR strings are over 50", which should be plenty long enough.

I do it all the time by combining a 4-string set with a single low B.
