In my situation I wanted loudness and portability. I have to carry my gear up and down the basement steps. So I ended up with two small 8-ohm cabinets. One is a 1 x 12 Aguilar and the other is a 2 x 10 Avatar. If things are not going to be too loud, I just bring the 1 x 12 and get 240W (8-ohm rating) max out of my EBS HD350 head. If things will be loud I bring both cabinets and get 350W max (4-ohm rating) out of my head and have roughly twice as much cone area to move air. It is noticably louder. Mathematically it is somewhere around 3-5 dB louder which is equivalent to doubling the size of the power amp.
If I were interested in one big cabinet (410, 212) I would probably go 4-ohm.
