4 way rotary switches

RobbieK, just to check, do you think 200k is still the right value for the trimmer pot, considering this is going to be going into an active bass? I plan to have the 4-way rotary feeding a glockenklang on board pre (with the blend pot removed).

Asking because it seems like you may have had a passive bass in mind when you recommended 200k in an earlier post.
 
Some manufacturers make 220K or 250K pots, and these will all work fine.

With no blend pot and no passive mode, you'll probably have the volume on the output of the pre. This means you are essentially setting the input Z for the pre with the trimpot. You could try a 100K trimpot, but I think that will choke too much treble in that series mode. AFAIK, there is no trimpot made that is between 100k and 200k. With fixed resistors you can really tweak this. (I'm guessing that's why I have 68k resistors on that old drawing of mine - this is essentially a 140K trimpot at half rotation.)

Be aware also, that with no pots between the pickup and the pre, the other settings of the switch may sound a bit brittle and trebly. Especially if the Glock has an input Z of 1M, like most seem to these days. You may want to play around with a load resistor at the input of the pre. But do this before you choose a trimpot for the series setting.
 
sure, that'll work. but really I'd just try the 200k trimpot first. wiring a little trimmer with two resistors point to point is pretty fiddly.

if the pre input z is 1.5M, and you are going straight in without blend or volume pots between, I'd definitely audition the parallel and single coil tones first, then think about lowering that z. the load resistor will most likely be in the 220k-1m range.
