A legit concern. User agedhorse was a design engineer with genz and now mesa. He has an independent lab in CA and continues to support genz, although none of it is still under warranty. I think I read he has a flat fee but you might pm him to check. Excellent person to deal with.
But they are well built and if it doesn't have problems yet it likely won't. Some comment that the 6.0 is thin on bottom but I recently played one on backline thru markbass cabs (which also take some crap around here) and it sounded good to me.
I have really appreciated all of the input ! There have been some really good questions put forth - this is what I have been looking for. I have decided that more research and trials are in order - as one poster put it - "buy once". The Carvin BX1500 is no longer a possibility; as stated in a prior post, it has been sold to a friend - so I cannot "fix" it. The Carvin BX500 has all of the options I would be looking for at a great price, but I have owned one previously and was never totally "into" it. Since it has the same tone section as the BX1500 it is probably not the best choice. I suppose that we all are looking for the sound that we hear in our head - hopefully I will find it soon. If I had to narrow my choices right now - it would probably be either a Mesa D800, Peavey MiniMega or a Quilter Bass Block 800. I do realize that I could have probably achieved what I am looking for with the Carvin BX1500, but everything I tried with it did not get me where I wanted to be. Further ideas will be appreciated !!

All of those are going just above your price range but they, along with the genzler, represent the latest in affordable performance.
I thought I'd also mention - with the knowledge I will be raspberried - that I also have a new Acoustic HD1000D that I like a lot. They sound rather neutral, some may call it sterile, but I was after that. I bought it for the onboard graphic, and I liked it enough to keep it. I got it on sale for $399.
Also, I second the idea of an Ampeg SCR-DI. I just got one of those because I wanted to get an Ampeg-ish tone and don't trust the PF line of amps (they sound awesome when they work). The SCR-DI pedal is very cool.

I was not aware that these (the Acoustic HD1000D) existed until just now. Seem to be going for $600 at Music123 Link Removed), so it looks like you got a decent deal. As for getting raspberried, if it sounds good it sounds good. I'm curious as to what sort of power module they have in there and what the build quality is like. Curious, too, about the quality of the D.I. signal. Again, though, if it's good it's good. Thanks for sharing.
Not an issue - they rarely ever go down and if they do, AgedHorse still provides service for them. I'd never hesitate to get a GB amp.
Sorry I missed that! I hope your new amp solves you problem and keeps the Cajuns dancing! If you don't have a good shop nearby and are unsure, maybe get it from sweetwater so you can return it if it isn't what you need.
I have the BX500 as my backup amp (main amp is Mesa D800). I also have a Mesa Subway DI pedal. The Carvin is a fine amp, but sounds kinda 'meh'. However, running the Subway DI pedal into it makes it sound 100 times better. So that could be an option, but by the time you do that you could just buy the Mesa D800 amp and be done.
All I can say is that it feels very solid, even moreso than the Rumble. But that has nothing to do with the innards. And it has some weirdness - like a giant noisy fan on the top of the case. Maybe it was a heli in another life... And the front of the case is angled, making it a little weird when packing. And the Blue LEDs on the front could burn a hole through your eyeball.
But, one likes what one likes, and I like this.
Wish I knew more about the resurrection of acoustic line, though - is it purely Chinese or what... I know one thing I especially like about the D800 is that it is USA made.
The new Acoustic amps are the House brand of Guitar Center/Musicians Friend. They are pretty nice amps.
Go to your local GC and give the Rumble 500 a listen. Bring your cabs and bass.
Genz Benz is a great option as others have said. Either the Shuttle 6.X/9.X series or the Streamliner600/900.
I've been gigging a Streamliner 900 near continuously for the last 4 years and never had a single issue with it.
Has a real good old school kind of vibe to it and can go clean and dirty depending on your mood.

A lot of my friends are very active gigging Bassists and have and use these. No complaints at all. And these seem to be holding up in terms of reliability. And they sound good too. My Daughter gave me one for Father's Day two years ago and its still going strong. It comes with a 3 year warranty and my Daughter paid extra for a 2 year extension so I was covered for 5 years. Of course the 2000 watts is bogus but these things are very loud and have more than enough Juice for any weekend warrior type Gig. I run mine through a Tecamp L610 and I'm loud and proud. You have to filter what's being said on TB about anything. I understand the Fanboy concept and try to avoid always telling someone to go Tecamp. Different strokes for different Folks. I personally like having gear that other Bassists don't use. I know I'm going to sound different because I have what they don't have. If it were up to TB we'd all be playing on Genzler, or a Mesa Head LOL!!!! Nothing wrong with them but I work on the idea there has to be more to life than those two options and gratefully I am correct. I use the Bugera as a backup mostly but it sounds damn good for the money. And for those who complain about China, I'd say a lot of components in the gear that's even made in the USA were made in China. If there was no China tomorrow a lot of folks would be surprised at what would not be available even with a made in the USA Label. We or I should say Big Business and Gov't made this so. We no longer even make some of the components needed. But of course I'll just add it's my opinion
