412 Advice Needed

I need to fill a 4x12 sealed cabinet. I need it to run at 4ohms. An Ampeg SVT "black line/magnavox era" head will be powering it with 300W.

Fliptops says "EMINENCE LEGEND 1258 8 OHM/75WATT/12" SPEAKER. GOOD CHOICE FOR 4X12 CABS". But nothing about 4ohm 12 inchers.

How would YOU fill it, with a <$100 per speaker budget?

Ask this in the amps forum. Suggestions and ideas will be as flies to feces. That is to say, numerous, while arriving quickly

They're a little more expensive, but you can get Eminence Basslite S2012 in 16 ohms, and wire them all parallel for total impedance of 4 ohms.

I filled a sealed Marshall 4x12 bass cab with these speakers (8 ohm versions), and they absolutely ROCK!

Hello Earache,
I dig 12" speakers. AFAIK the Aguilar GS 412 and SWR 412 Stack share the same speakers. The current part number for those speakers is 0067085000. They are made by Eminence. I hope this will help you out. The ones in my pair of SWR 412 Stacks are all 8 &#937; but this driver is likely also available in 16&#937;.
I have a total of 8 of these Bad Boys and drive it with either my Sunn Model T(4 x 6550) or my Fender Bassman 135(4 x 6L6). When/if you buy these and load them into yer cab, they should be quite tasty driven by a tube SVT. Good Luck and rock on. 12" speakers are this century's 10" speakers

Without knowing anything about the 4X12 in question it's very difficult (impossible) to give you any sort of thought out answer.

^ Yes my bad. It is an Ampeg V-412 slant guitar cab. It was on the way to the junkyard so I grabbed it mega cheap. Upon further review ...particle board. The thing is damn solid and quite clean but I have never had a particle board cab. It doesn't seem very inviting of fat woofers. Though I have heard of it being done. Uhg.

Just a guess, but methinks the internal volume will be somewhat less than the speakers require.
It may sound fine, but on the other hand, 4 12s might gradually reduce that cab to a pile of splinters.
