4x8's or 8x8's ? Anyone playing one.

All depends on the specific drivers.

Use Faital Pro 8PR200s & we're talking formidable.

While I can't say 'no, the faitals won't make a difference', I can attest that the stock drivers in a Henry still push some great tight low end. The extra expense of 8 of those drivers to load a cab like this is excessive...but if you have a Henry and it needs to be re-coned and you can afford it...why not?

If you need a large cab and can get one of these, do it. They kick ass.

Have a Henry 8x8 that is to be sold eventually.
Got two 4x8's from Seismic Audio to replace it with. 120 lb cabinets are not in my future but a hernia operation is(furniture moving an MDF piece wifey bought, I'm 57 and felt the tear). The Seismic's are run on top of a Seismic 18 sub as part of a biamped rig. The 90 lb sub is easier to move than the 120 lb 8x8.

I don't think iualum is saying anyone should be simply replacing their speakers with these. I do think he is suggesting puking them in a box designed for them.

An 808 would be very expensive with these, but it would be very nice.

Never said an 8PR200-loaded 8x8 would be cheap. It wouldn't. In fact, it would be serious bread, guessing ~$1900-2K. Or maybe north of there. Unless someone had to have one, it's cost prohibitive in a bang-for-the-buck scenario. But if someone was jonesing for one & had the wherewithal, it would absolutely be a thing of beauty :bassist: .

As for air, sure the Celestion BG8-60s were nice. Still, there's just no way they could begin to compete with these Faitals. Only calling a spade a spade. Of course, they wouldn't have cost (even on an inflation-adjusted basis probably) what the 8PR200s cost, either.

This used by Whiskey Rodeo in Flagstaff Arizona. It wasn't loud but they had no subs in the little PA so it was all the guy had. EQ was a slight smile but mostly he ran it flat. The old Fender was rated (I think) 200 watts at 4 ohm so he may not have been really giving it all it could take. Sounded nice - just not loud in this setting.

I've got an SWR 8x8, and it's a killer-diller for clubs. Tight, kick a hole in yer chest. It's heavy though, and even though I'd decided I was DEFINITELY GOING TO KEEP IT, I just can't roll it over to my vehicle and tilt 'er in there. I've got steps to my house, and it's just not very comfy. Wah, yes, but I'll probably sell of swap it.

But it's a uniquely punchy, friendly sound, and for the music I'm playing it's great! But there are so many options that are more logistically friendly for me. If I had a typical garage>storage scene on one level, it wouldn't be an issue.

Looking at a possible deal this weekend... too bad. Maybe the best-sounding cab I've had yet.

Like the horse shoe around the tweeter... and that 8x8 is definitely not the loudest or deepest-throw cab in such a setting without support, but it does punch like nothing else. My mileage, anyway.

Very nice cab for club-romping.
