Why would one hole cost that much?

Okay, so if this was all a joke and meant to be some sort of wry sarcastic sense of humor, then were was any kind of emoji or "/sarcasm" tag or some sort of qualifier to indicate that the post was a joke?

Sarcasm is easy to pick up with people are talking (you can detect it based on the inflection of one's voice), but is not easy to pick up in text/written form unless you put indicators in said text that you're being sarcastic or facetious or whatnot. And if someone's deadpan... unless I'm really good friends with them, even I can't tell if they're being snarky and I have to ask "srsly?"

Do you know how many relationships went kablooie because someone read a text message the wrong way? Tone does not translate into text without qualifiers.
I was in the UK for about a month once. I found some people in Wales that really didn't understand sarcasm at all. Some sweet people.
Some asians also.

micguy in post #32 gave IMO the best/most thought-out answer https://www.talkbass.com/threads/why-would-one-hole-cost-that-much.1690417/page-2#post-29730320 , but methinks the OP might be resistant to hearing it, despite it being the truth.

There is more to manufacturing than simply "parts and labor."

A couple other wrinkles:
-Phil McKnight's tour of the Cort/Cor-Tek factory reveals that the campus is made up of several factories. The high-end premium stuff is made in a separate facility with higher quality materials and more painstaking care in manufacture than the less-expensive, more mass-produced stuff (which is made in a different facility). The lower cost stuff is still quality stuff, but manufacturing tolerances aren's as rigid so you probably will get more duds.
So it's not like a $3000 guitar is "made in the same factory" as a $300 guitar. Not made under the same roof at all.

-I remember a thread asking a similar question about the Boss WAZA Craft pedals, which are made in Japan vs. the regular Boss pedals that are not.
My reply (which was a straight answer): https://www.talkbass.com/threads/regular-boss-pedals-vs-waza-craft.1677665/#post-29271093
Is a Japanese-made Prestige Soundgear worth $1000 more than an Indonesian-made Premium Soundgear? If you place value on features, no. But if you place value on the impeccable quality of Japanese craftsmanship, then yes.
Is a Czech-made Spector Euro worth more than double the cost of an Indonesian-made Spector Icon? If you place value on features, no. But if you place value on the painstaking quality of Czech instrument-making craftsmanship, then yes.

So, what you as an individual value is part of the tricky equation as well. And we all value different things.

The plumber I use is more expensive than the plumber my neighbor uses, but mine does better quality work and doesn't come by my house as often as the neighbor's does. My plumber also educates me on stuff so I don't have to call as often, so paying extra for quality work AND a piece of their expert knowledge is totally worth it to me.

EDIT: And @Solipsistik 's example of Porsche charging you extra to leave out features like seats, door levers, and noise padding adds yet ANOTHER wrinkle because leaving those things out of a car affects how street legal it is, which is a whole 'nother can of worms regarding cost, price, and all that. That's adding the legal factor into all the cost/price, and legal professionals do not come cheap.

My local Tractor Supply is more expensive than any other place but the young lady behind the counter can tell me that the cheap
mower deck belt I am looking at is 10 mm looser than the OEM belt and won't fit right without slipping and failing sooner.
