5 sting Schecter Stiletto Studio?

I've got a few projects in the works I need a bass for (haven't had one for several years - I mainly play guitar) and have put up a relatively new (last year) Reverend Sensei Jr w/OHSC on Craigslist seeing if I could work a trade (I need to have a one-in-one-out policy these days, since I'm running out of space!)

The first offer I received was for an Ibanez ABG140 - I said I was interested, but not as a one-to-one trade (I'd take a beating on that). Now I have an offer of the Schecter. Sounds like a nice instrument, but I've always been a bit leery of EMGs and active pickups period (I know they're a lot more common on basses, but as a guitar player I haven't been impressed). Anyway - does this seem like a reasonable trade, based on the relative values? Also - if anybody's played one of the Stiletto Studios, I'd be interested in whether it garnered a thumbs-up or down.

I have one, but mine has the EMG-HZ pickups, which are passive. The Preamp is an EMG three band, b64 I believe? It’s meh. The 35” scale is nice, it’s a bit of a neck diver though. I use a wide suede strap to negate that. It’s a nice bass overall.

I also have one. My first fiver. Bought new 6 years ago.
Very nice for the price. I’m a fan of EMG’s. People here don’t care for the HZ’s
As stated above the HZ’ are passive.

Very easy to upgrade with drop in EMG active.

@NicJimBass is very knowledgeable with EMG pups and preamp options

Yeah. I'm sort of intrigued by the fact that it has neck-through construction. For guitars, I don't think that makes a huge difference, but I would suspect that a neck-through bass might have some advantages in terms of sustain. As far as the pickups go, I'm a bass neophyte, so I tend to think it will be a while before my ears are sensitive enough to really get concerned about that. As long as I can lay down tracks to support my guitar playing, I'll be pretty happy.

I believe, maybe wrongly, that neck thru’s have longer sustain.
But that is a hotly contested debate here. You’ll have to decide that for yourself

Will you have the opportunity to play this first before the transaction?

I don't know - with all the weirdness going on right now, who knows how a CL transaction will be conducted! Actually, it's sort of funny - I had listed the Reverend for trade either late last year or early this year, and he had wanted to trade me some kind of Schecter guitar for it, but in the end I decided it wasn't worth it.

I have played a studio 4 for the last 9 years as my main bass, it's seen quite a few others come and go but it's always survived. I did replace the pick ups with blacks outs and at one point had an aguilar preamp in there (I pulled it in favor of no preamp, personal preference for the rock metal tone I got out of that set up the preamp wasn't needed). Recently I played one of the purple studio 5s and feel in love! If I could have afforded it along with my amp inbound have brought it home with me too. In the meantime I'm saving and will definitely be adding the 5 ASAP.
I should add there was no really good reason to replace the pickups other than I had them laying around so I figured why not.
