5 string 35" scale P-bass?

Im having a custom 5 string p bass made currently from a friend of darkhorse and I was able to give him all my specs I wanted and have it done for around 1300. If this is what you want you should have one made. I suggest you check out CHC guitars on FB and instagram.

Warmoth doesn't offer a Gecko with a split-P route on the website, but I'd bet they would do it if you call. (But like all musical instrument sellers, they're slammed with covid spending).

You should be able to do a Gecko under a grand.

This Jackson is the only 5-string with reverse P-configuration that I’ve seen. 5-string, reverse P, specific preamp for under $1000 tall order for a production bass. Honestly I think your best bet is to find a used 5-string, then get the bass routed for reverse P configuration and your preamp of choice installed either by a luthier (or yourself if you have the skills).I have never put together a parts bass or bought a neck and body from Warmouth, but you might find a reverse P-body, a neck and then have the pickup and preamp installed. Let us know what you decide to do this is an interesting challenge!
Agreed.
This...
Jackson CBXM V David Ellefson X Series Signature Concert Bass Guitar - Gloss Black
...is the only under-$1k, 35", 5 string, reverse P I've ever seen.

Of course, as with nearly all PJs your getting the P pushed a bit north of of the sweet spot. Still, I think it's the best you're going to do. Looks great and really a bargain too!

Never been a Jackson or Megadeth guy but that bass looks sweeeeeeeet! The headstock, pickguard, and shaping on the bouts all look sexy as hell. Looks like a great instrument.

I forget that he has signature instruments other than the one he had on this poster I had over my bed from probably 1993 to 1999.

They reissued this one last year and I dang near held out for it, but I preordered an Ibanez RGB305 yesterday that gets me almost all the same stuff.

Yes, if the OP can live with it having a J pickup, and not being passive-switchable, then this is THE BASS...especially given that it already has a rev P, and the price. I would love one of these myself...but Id have to toss that ridiculous pickguard.

I'm trying to find a bass that seems like it should exist, but I can't seem to find a production model. I have a short wish list.

35" Scale
Active 3 band EQ with passive mode
5 strings with a reverse p pickup in the sweet spot

Every other spec isn't really important to me
Does this exist outside of a custom shop?

Help me, TB collective
Why 35”? Do you prefer more room to roam, or do you want a tighter 5th string? Longer scale lengths are really the only answer for the former, but if the latter, you can get .135–.145 strings without much difficulty or expense. I just slapped a .145 on my 34” P5 last night, and even tuned to G, it’s solid.

I'm also not a metal player and I haven't played one yet, but it really looks like a great instrument that would look good and sit well in a wide variety of situations.

I think it would likely suit the OP well stock, but the option exists in the future to install Passive electronics set and active pre with passive option. Resell the stock EMG pups and preamp and you could probably keep it all under $1k.
