5-String Bass Recommendation

I've looked around a bit, but I'm wondering what all of you out there can come up with. Try fitting something in these constraints:
- 5-strings
- 35" scale
- <$1000

My best answer so far is an Ibanez BTB, though I don't understand the difference between current and older (much cheaper) models.

I strongly recommend an Ibanez BTB.

The current one, the BTB745 is a very nice instrument.

I played one recently, and it feels as nice as my BTB1205E, which was made in 2005.

The wider neck, the Bartolini pickups, and the general overall feel of the bass are exactly what I like.

There are other very nice basses that will fit your criteria, but the BTBs fit the bill.

Lakland is 35 " IIRC.
My buddy has an MIK plays & sounds great.
Ibanez is also a good choice.

That looks cool. I've looked at some Yamahas like the TRBX505. Your bass isn't a 35" scale, is it?

I think a used Lakland 55-02 would be a great call.

I actually had to check the specs... It's a 34" scale.

Tried a bunch but the Lakland 5s are sweet. I have a 55-01.

Make sure to check string spacing at your price. I find 16-17mm basses unplayable.

Lakland 55-02 used is a great bass.

And a Lakland 55-01 can be had for $600.

Great basses.

If you can I'd suggest checking out a Lakland 55-01 or 55-02 in person. These are great basses at a fantastic price.

I am a big BTB fan. I made a ton of money playing one. But the bass linked here is hard to beat for the price if you're into the finish.

Heck, I need another bass like I need another hole in my head but I have thought about buying it myself.

If you can find one, Peavey G-V. Graphite neck, 35" scale.

Keep in mind the fret board radius if your particular.
Btb's are real comfy.

Lakland. Used 55-02, or new 55-01. You can get a new 55-01 and upgrade the electronics to USA Barts and you have a $3000 bass for less than $1000.
