5 String bodies???

Hi, with all of the quarantining going on I'm going to get back into building. I'm more of an assembler at this point, haven't cut my own body yet. I've been looking on line and on e-bay for a bodies routed for five string necks and have come up empty handed (I have a few nice necks). I'm partial to J and P basses, but would love to try a Tele guitar shape as well as t-birds, RD-Artists, and anything else a little off beat. Does anyone know of a body supplier that routs, or will rout for a five string neck?

Thanks

I'm with ya...

About all I can find are Jazz and P styles too. I'm to the point I'm going to try my hand at cutting my own body. I'm scared to death about it, but I have a friend who is a cabinet maker, and he has built instruments as well. So maybe I'll not screw up too much.

I figure Warmoth Is probably the only option for something non traditional shaped, or second hand

Thanks to all who responded!

I'm fairly frugal, so Warmoth is probably not an option, lol. I will probably wind up making my own body at some point and would appreciate any advice you guys might have.

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes, making your own body is not the most cost effective.
Raw materials for the body blank, templates, tools to form the body with all of it features, and finishing supplies can all add up.

I'm still an advocate for making your own, but just want to make sure you understand the costs.

Yes, I agree completely, and it's actually the rational for this post. I've hot rodded a Squire Jazz bass and an Epi T-Bird with some modest success and was looking toward my next project, but just can't find a body to fit a five string neck.

I did make an RD clone 5 string bolt on

General question- are 4 string and 5 string P and J shaped bodies usually the same dimensions/size? (apart from the neck route...)? Curious if redoing a 4 string neck pocket for a 5 neck would be the same sized body as a 5er.
Thanks!
