I just got a Brice short scale 5-string; I've restrung it C to E, but the nut is intended for B to G. Does anybody know where I can get a nut specifically for E to C?
Yes: The low E is such a poor fit that to prevent buzzing, I am using the old match book cover trick to lift it up. Not good. The rest of the strings are better, but stil the best fit.
Follow up: I got a 6-string bass nut, and trimmed off the low end. It is a nearly perfect fit, action is perfect and no more floppy buzz on the low E. If anybody can benefit from my experience with this, then good.
