I'm looking to add a 5-string P-bass to my collection, and I'm planning on doing a pickup swap and electronics upgrade right away. I know some people prefer to leave stock electronics, but for me, especially with budget basses, this process makes me feel comfortable using them for serious gigging and recording. It just works for me!

The goal is to get that traditional, classic P-bass tone but with the added versatility of a low B string.

I play a lot of country music, but I also love playing all kinds of genres, so a versatile tone is key.

I appreciate any thoughts and interest on the different pickups. 5-string PBass pickup threads are sporadic at best.

I'm personally interested in the Fralin, Klein, Kloppmann, Lollar, and Nordstrand models.

If other pickup models exist that you have tried - please share - i can add to the poll or we can get them listed in the thread.
