Sorry about the new thread but searching for "Jazz" yields all sorts of results for the fender J style basses and not for the jazz genre.

I'm looking for a freless 5 (35in scale preferable) for jazz music. Looking for a db like sound in a small package. I know only a db sound like a db but all I'm after is a facsimile of the sound and a good all around bass with some mwah.

The Rob Allen deep 5 is on top of the list but seems a little out of my price range. I don't want to go too far over $2500.

How about a Nordstrand or Roscoe? Would that get me anywhere near or are they completly different basses?

Fire away with your suggestions.

Harvey Citron makes some amazing stuff in that style, and he was involved with the Vielette-Citron which is a sweet bass as well... but I don't know if you are going to keep it under 2500. That is the real trick.

Maybe something like the Godin A5, Turner Renaissance 5, Turner Electroline 5 w/ piezos... I've owned the Ren and own an Electroline, both can be had for 1500 or less. The Godin is about the same, but I have seen them about 1000 new.

I think that Nordstrand and Roscoe are great instruments, but I'll leave it to owners of those to chime in.
