Check out the Atelier Z-ZP05. It's a 30" 5 string...I recently purchased one and swapped out the preamp for a Nordstrand 3b and the pickups for a pair of Nordstrand NJ5's and it plays and sounds great. Check one out here: . If 32" is short enough for you I think that Muckelroy basses are the best...I have two and both are amazing! They're high-end and a bit more expensive than the Atelier. But IMO there's nothing like a Muck! Check out Brady's Facebook page.

I’ve got a 6 string 33” Benavente.
Probability looking at a 6 string 30” mtd next. They are out there.

Short scale fivers don’t get much play here on TB....I tried to also get ideas. The Mikros appear to no longer being made so hunt one down. Most SS/5s are Customs. I have a 33.5 fiver made by ACF Customs made by a TBer rojo412 here who is a great bass builder. Compared to my 35” Laklands it feels short..... smallish. It has a killer neck that works great.

I’m having a 23” ukebass 5 string Custom built and will show it here when I get it soon.

I have an Ibanez GSRM25 Mikro 5-string Bass. Of course finding strings has always been an issue.
However, over the years, through trial and error, I fond strings that work well for me, and here is my list:
DR Hi-Beam SMR5-5 45 65 85 105 125 Steel Round Wound Round Core
DR Sunbeam SNR5-5 45 65 85 105 125 Nickle Round Wound Round Core
Dunlop Flatwound Shortt Scale 5-String 45-125 DBFS45125S

I settled on the DR Hi-Beams. because that is where I found my tones and they are readily available.

Note: It's possible that the bridge I use allows a little leeway in scale length. The bridge I use came off of an Ibanez SR505

Tonely, I'm happy down to D on the B string. Open B is ok but a little flabby. I have little need for low B, and I tend to shy away from open notes anyway. So it works for me. Hope you find this helpful
