5 string single cut Wenge and Brazil walnut

This project is picking up steam again. First off, did some work on the body/neck join

Babysteps with the router

... and started sanding. Not done yet obviously but getting there

I've also started glueing up the wings, then I realized I hadnt thought about side marker dots... hmm... drilling for those will be more of a challenge with the wings getting in the way

On to the bridge, this is what I had after glueing three wenge bits together and cutting stuff away on the bandsaw

Then fittting it to the slot at the butt end of the bass

Then after a lot of sanding, filing, drilling, sanding and drilling...

Also strung it up with a string or two just to check intonation and action, all good I think

With that done there's just the slow process of finish sanding before grain filling and finishing so updates will probably be awhile

I did that once myself....
I employed a tip I saw on the StewMac site....
Found a length of hobby store brass tubing with the proper ID for my drill bit to fit in snugly & glued it in with a couple drops of CA glue. Makes a bit as long as you need so you can get in tight along the face of the wing without the drill chuck getting in the way.

So you put the tubing in the drill chuck? interesting.

Finally got to a point where I can see the finish line. I've had some problems with the finishing process and had to start over once but now its getting to be quite shiny

And done! I had a bit of a scare when I was installing the pots and a piece of wenge fell out the top. I glued it back in and luckily the knobs cover most of the damage. Phew. I would probably have thrown this thing out rather than start over on the finishing.

First impressions are good. The finish isn´t perfect but if you don´t look too close it looks pretty good
