Im picking it up today in none working condition the pics were blurry on craigslist but the guy said he think its a vr. from what i saw its one of the original beasts. as soon as I get it ill post picks.
So is it an original SVT from the 60's/70's or is it a Vintage Reissue (VR) of the blueline series??? Any idea whats wrong with it??
ok so ive gotten this bad larry home and it looks to me to be early seventy's. I open it up to see the first problem, some jerk off replaces one of the 6550s with a el34. im not going to try to turn her on until i get my amp tech to look at it.
Hahahah, nicely done! Hopefully it will be a pretty easy repair, that should be one awesome amp man. Lets see it!
I found a new face plate for the front of the amp. I cant seem to find one for the back as seen in the pics its mia
Good luck finding one. I searched for one forever. Fliptops.net doesn't have any and no one else could locate one either. Ebay is your best bet...just search it every couple of days...I've seen two on there in the past two years.
It's back!! That head was up on the boston CL about a month ago for $150, I emailed the kid and he was looking for offers and already had a few, but they were more than I wanted to pay. At the time he said it didn't turn on. Not sure if this is the same person selling again or the person who bought it, but I recognize the black grill and the blank chasis. Good luck with the repair.
Thats one clean SVT. Hopefully it won't be much to get it up and running. Then you know your $ went a long way!
the way i see it even if i have to go through the whole thing im looking at the price for one in good shape. and then i know everything is done im replacing all the caps and tubes and going to clean it up inside and out. can anyone suggest preamp tubes? i think im going tung sol 6550s
