Have always loved the 500 series for its flexibility, and the new Lindell units coming out with the channel feed switches (not the first, I know) got me toying with the idea of building a killer chain of top notch gear that's can be used with a power amp, fed into a DI or into an interface.

Right now, I'm thinking:

1) Hairball Lola - the DI is just gnarly on this thing
2) Shinybox Guillotine - precise band passing pre compression
3) JLM Audio LA500 - get some thickness and first pass smoothing
4) Hairball FET/500 - stomp it a little bit more and add some grit
5) API 550b - surgical tuning for what we let through the guillotine
6) Little Labs VOG - one last embiggening before the next stage

Purely for fun, what would YOU fill your six slots with?

Looks like a pretty tidy list of high end gizmos. Should make a sweet, but expensive, preamp channel strip.
The Little Labs VOG sounds particularly interesting.

I've been eyeing the DIYRE Colour Pallet for a hypothetical 500 Series rack. I love all the different dirt options available. Plus it's open source, so there's new modules appearing for it all the time.

Some other preamps on my radar you may want to check out (I've never tried any of it FYI):
Atlas Pro Audio preamp and opto comp
Shadow Hills Mono Gama
Great River preamp (though it takes up two 500 series slots)
Radial JDV Pre

Radial actually has a lot of great looking "utility" modules, like effects loops, insert points, JDX500 "cab sim" DI etc. If you want to get creative with your routing, insert a pedal board at a certain point in the chain, etc.

This is definitely the direction I'm wanting to move to with my rig. I was thinking Api 505 di, Ams Neve pre, purple audio 10 band graphic eq, joe meek meq 5 band parametric eq, retro double wide tube compressor, Radial effects loop, Radial reamp module, all out of a 10 space radial workhorse with the mixer. I may sub out one of the radial devices or the compressor but I'm pretty set on the rest .
