$500 to spend on a head

Hey this is my first post, so i'm pretty much a newbie.
I have $500 to spend on a head and i was wondering if anyone can recommend any heads that are good at that price range. I like a warm, fat, punchy tone. I was looking at the Gallien Krueger mb2 500 and the peavey tour 450. If you have any recomendations or reviews on those 2 products please help me out.

You can get the Hartke LH500 for $350 new online. I just got mine two days ago so I'm still in the honeymoon phase but its a great amp for the price. I think its sound is similar to a clean fender bassman. For what its worth Victor Wooten uses the 1000 watt version...so how bad could it be :p

First question is what kind of cab will you be driving with your new head, and what kind of music do you play?

Check Craig's List in your area, there are plenty of good deals out there. I would say try an older Trace Elliot head! I sold my Mesa BB750 and replaced it with 3 TE's that sound better for the price I sold the Mesa for.. :hiding:

I just bought a scratch and dent Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 from Brandt at The Perfect Bass for $503 shipped. I'm loving it so far. Very punchy, yet warm with the tube preamp. Since I bought it from an authorized dealer, it comes with the same warranty as a brand new unit.
