Huh, they work for me. The first two clips aren't plucked continuously which makes them a bit hard to hear, but the others worked perfectly for me!
I'm listening through headphones as well, so I don't know if that makes a difference.

500K all the way...for my PJ

Not working for me, I'm also using headphones. I tried it in another browser but then it said the tracks were either set to private or removed :\
haven't tried it (parallel-wiring a QP P pickup), but i wouldn't be surprised.
the other pickup that really benefits from parallel wiring is the dimarzio "split-P", which comprises two little dual-rail humbuckers made into a P pickup.
parallel wiring really brings back the clarity on these without losing the power and low end.
If you plug into a decent input impedance most anything will have a nice sound; in fact higher value pots start to sound brittle when used as volume controls. I think as far as tone controls this is less true; higher values don't cause major changes in the tonal character, they just preserve the top end better when full-up.
My take on the P vs J situation is that a P has one pickup, and one volume pot; so 250K is fine. A Jazz has two pickups in parallel and matching volume pots for each, which by ohm's law have 125K resistance if each pot is 250K. So in that case I'd size up to 500K.
On a Ric bass these days they use 330K pots which load down to 165K in the mono output. Kind of a pleasant compromise. I think Gibson does something similar or did at one point.
I have also noticed that when I am working with single coils it is much less important to size up the pots than it is with overwound humbuckers.

In my Fender PJ I have Seymour Duncan STK-J2 and SPB-3 (QP) pickups. I use a single 500K volume, no tone knob, and a Gibson style three way toggle.
I've got 500k pots in a mongrel P-P bass I built from parts, and I'm going to be putting 500k pots into my Geddy Lee someday (when I get around to it). I swapped out the original pickups for Model Js, and they need just a little bit of help to get the high end bite I want.

be sure to use linear volume pots, especially when they're 500k; the higher resistance exaggerates the steep dropoff from "10" of audio volumes, making them act more like switches. (tones should still be audio taper.)
