When you upgrade to the NTMB pre it would be a true Passive / Active switch right? Can somebody please explain if I am understanding this.

55-01 Passive / Active

Yes, that's right. The standard preamp in the 55-01 has an "EQ-bypass", but it still has to have a charged battery to operate. Dead battery = no sound even with the bypass switch pulled. The Bart NTMB can be set up with a true active/passive switch, and the pre-wired control harnesses usually have that included. If you order the 55-01 with the NTMB from the factory, it will definately have an active-passive switch.

Well, I could be wrong, but since it's also the same preamp as on the 55-02, and the description for that says "Master volume (pull up for preamp bypass)", I'd say that you'll have one.
