5A Flame Maple body or 5A Quilt Maple?

Quilted, but I'm also a little biased. This is a washed black dye finish from Warmoth and it turned out absolutely killer!
I often prefer flame but there are fine examples of both.

Honestly, for me it would come down to the color of finish.
Neutrals (tint, amber, brown) & "warm" colors (yellow, orange, red), I'd go Flame.
"Cool" colors (green, blue, purple), I'd go Quilt.
I meant that it would depend on the individual pieces as each is going to be unique.
Those look cool but don’t look like 5’s this looks like a true 5ASadly, not a choice I have to make. But if I had... quilt wins, hands down! Love the binding too.

It also depends on the shape of the body. Some shapes look better in flame, some look better in quilt.
I have one of each.

Here are my two Warmouth I did not get 5A and I should have but the non 5A came out pretty good also. My wait time was five weeks not too bad.

Wowsa, that's stunning! I've never seen flame that severe! I guess that means I've never seen a 5-A flame!

It's all good fun! Don't get suckered into paying exorbitant up charges for 5A. Most really nice drop tops can be bought from mills for a few hundred USD.
The colour does matter as does how far away you are expecting to see it from.
Some subtle patterns will be invisible from distance so you need the colour to work.
Now, I don't mind solid colours on a good sounding body. One of the things often overlooked, imv, people get so carried away with the visuals, they compromise the build with non capatible combinations.
I had a stunning top but the woods were not sonically matched well so basically the bass was a pretty 'dog'..
And ultimately, no one is interested in a poor sounding bass.
