I got the new Vektor and I'm liking it a lot so far. It's the closest thing I've heard to an acoustic tone coming out of my amp. The arco sound is amazing, I was even practicing with it on and didn't want to shut it off! Very even volume between the 2 also, and even for slap too. It's nice to not have to click on an EQ pedal whenever I pick up the bow. I find it really accurately reproduces what I play, when I change the attack I can really hear the difference. It doesn't seem to have a specific character like other pickups. I haven't used it on many gigs yet so I'm not sure how it will react to different situations, especially combat zone gigs. I guess time will tell.

I am no experienced expert. But I just bought a Heil PR 40 mic and yikes, I love the tone !! thru a GK150. I know there can be feedback issues but damn, it sure is a sweet mic for acoustic tone. I use a Realist for a pickup. It may mark up the top but heck, playing the heck out of bass does as well. If I could play half as good as either the Realist or Heil PR 40 can process the tone, I'd be totally happy.
yea there is something about the
Heil that is just so ...good. smooth, lots of gain, fat full sound nice highs. Bob loaned me one for a year and when I had to give it back, he sent me the stubby version, promising a few month wait...that was 2 years ago and I keep thinking I'm just going to go ahead and spring for the dang thing. IT has a classy sound that goes thru an amp real well....I've just been battling with my little phantom powered condenser (similar to AMT) and it is shrill brittle and not anything like the acoustic sound of my instrument....maybe there is a PR 40 used somewhere....
I'm almost 10 years with the Dyn B now. While I occasionally still go back to all mic, the Dyn B just works great. No change to the acoustic sound (I found it much less obtrusive to the sound than my Stat).

What I wonder about the Vektor is what the smallest space the pickup will fit into and still mount correctly. My bridge has a fairly shallow arch over the top. This also takes out using the AMT in the sweet spot cause I don't think you could fit both the Vektor and the AMT in that space.

Yeah, they're not cheap. I would love to try one if I could figure out how. Maybe Hammond Ashley would loan me one....
I wouldn't think you would need to use a mic with the Vector as the Vector is a condensor mic that is mounted in that tubular housing.
Ric, there is no problem fitting the Vektor even under shallow bridges, just let me know the height and if need be we have a special unit made to fit it. There is a version for cello which is only 35mm high.
