6.5" speaker for bass?

I run my bass into a Vox Pathfinder 15 (I know, try not to bash me for using a guitar amp, I just LOOOVE the tone) And usually run the internal speaker (it has no ext. speaker jack, so I have to rig the speaker wires to an output jack to run it into a cab) but, every 2-3 months the speaker in it farts out/the voice coil overheats (I believe thats the term, I'm not great with speakers), so it becomes unusable :(. So, I was wondering if there are any 6.5" speaker for bass? I don't mean a 6.5" running the mids/high, I mean the 6.5" will be running the entire bass. I'd like to keep this cheap (I know the speakers I put in it were dirt cheap) and have okay tones. Any thoughts?

Looks to me like a pretty darn nice choice for a 15 watt bedroom amp. The thing will actually have some lowend, and reaches high enough to catch every harmonic that's of any importance to a bass guitar.

At a whopping $9, I don't think you'd do any better.......good find.

Whoa, that speaker makes me want to build a 4X6.5

Pfft.....32 x 6.5 Tower of Power.:D

That FR is out of the box of course and you can't see the graph in between, but, those numbers are pretty close to what my gigging rig is. May have to do a little modeling with that one. A little 2x or 4x might make a pretty sweet little bass cab for my Valve Jr., just for playing around, porch jams, etc.

Let me know what you come up with. I don't really know that much about WinISD so my calculations seem a bit strange.

Having a vertical 4X of one of these would be pretty awesome.

I used to own the Pathfinder 10 Bass combo, it had two 6" speakers and an open back. It didnt really pump out much bass, but did produce a really neat overdriven fuzz sound and sounded pretty cool at low volumes. if you cranked it it would get really fuzzy. Maybe thats what youd like?

My Pathfinder has a single 6.5" speaker, and it sounds really good, until the speaker blows. An 8x6.5" is being designed at the moment as well......

Yeah I had that Pathfinder 15R guitar amp, and loved it before trading it for a AC4TV 10" which i loved even more until i straight gave up guitar for bass.

However that's just it, the difference between them is the bass speakers can probably stand a bit more then the guitar speakers can. Or you can just just play until the speaker goes.

Let us know what you come up with. I already had the order form filled out for 8 drivers, but I chickened out. Maybe this will be of some help: http://www.datafilehost.com/download-33bc550e.html

Thanks for the datasheet. Some of the specs aren't listed but between the ad page and the pdf, they're all there. FR curve is smooth. Have to mess with this over the weekend.

Hifi drivers will have softer suspensions, wouldn't take much for the bass guitar dynamics to get them jumping but there's excursion to cover it and we're only talking 5-20 watts on multiple drivers here.

2 should fill a livingroom nicely, maybe 4 if you're playing with louder acoustic instruments like banjos or conga drums....electric guitar bedroom amps.......cool stuff......and $9....even more cool.

I was thinking of a 8 X 6 to pair with my SB-12 for a mini rig of doom. :D At ~3+ watts/driver, they should be able to handle it with no problem.
