More recently than the pics, it's gotten gold Q-Parts dome knobs w/dark red abalone tops. Someday it'll be refinished, too...

Ha yeah, I should have posted some info. I changed from T.O.Bass to CrispyDelicious when I donated to TB.
The bass is a Vadim, made by luthier Vadim Rubstov. He started doing customs behind the iron curtain in the 70's, using parts stolen from phone booths, handmade bridges, strings cut from pianos or doublebasses. He lives in Toronto now, and makes basses part time. It's a piece of art, this bass.

You got a nice bass there! Nothing to be ashamed of, that is for sure. Oil your fretboard with a bit of lemon or orange oil, tweak the truss rod and bridge to your preference, and go!

Yup, ghetto does the job just fine! I have, (and have had) many basses, including beautiful US-made stuff. My Douglas sounds incredible in the mix, not as "light and airy" in tone, but has just enough mids so it cuts through without harshness or excess volume.
This is now my main axe. Got it for $109.99 on sale, BTW.

Indeed! I remember seeing that WOB here in my research a bit before you posted to my thread. And it seems that the econo-instruments these days are much better quality than what we had to choose from back in the 80s-90s.
