6 string Fender jazz

I'll probably get to see Steve in two weeks. I'm going to a jazz workshop at the school where he teaches, he always stops by at least for a day or two. If he brings the Fender, I'll be sure to get all the details.

I got a chance to mess around on a Fender Custom Shop 6 string similiar to the one owned by the bassist of Animal Ant Farm. I was at the 2003 Summer NAMM. I wasn't all that impressed. The bass felt okay but was sort of bulky. Definitly not worth the $8500.00 dollar price tag IMO.

$8500?! My Conklin 6 isn't even gonna cost that much and it's absolutely loaded with options, as well as plenty of 6+ string experience and reputation.

Yeah, that's way too damn expensive. I know it's the Custom Shop but really, that's a whole lot of what you know has to be name markup.

I think Fender is just fine the way they are, other brands make good 6 strings so they really don't need to venture out into that market.

Played a used one at a Music Store in Barcelona, Spain. It was very kewl. Reminded me of a Lakland. I wanted to buy it, but my wife would have killed me since we were on holiday and didnt want to haul back to cruise ship and plane etc. Maybe next time!!
