6-String nut moving when tuning

I just got a BTB 6-string and the nut will NOT stay put!

I replaced the strings and nut fell off when I took the old strings off.

I figured, oh well, a little bit of white glue and she won't budge after.

WRONG!

It stayed put, until I started putting tension on the strings, angling back towards the headstock as I wound them up.

Ok, maybe the glue's not strong enough. SUPER GLUE it is!!!

WRONG!!

Same problem. -_-

How do I make this stupid thing stay put!???

Everything I read says "Just use a little bit of white glue to stop it from moving around".

Not to be rude, but it's gotta be asked- are you waiting for the glue to dry completely/ alternating which strings you tune up so that all of the force isn't on one side of the nut at once?

huh. thats odd.

check the edge of the fingerboard where it meets the nut for damage, perhaps?
Also, I'd get that superglue off while the nut isn't on....could lead to some frustrations later. you really shouldn't need more that the white stuff.

an interesting problem.....

No damage along the fingerboard. Underneath where the nut would sit looks like it's missing a teeny piece, probably from whoever took the previous nut off.

I'm thinking I'll have to take it to my local guitar shop, but I'd like to fix it myself, if I can.
Already got the superglue off, as it didn't hold. *sigh*

Do the strings fit in the slots?
If not, then I can see how they would pull.
If the string windings are binding, that'd do it.
Do the strings easily go all the way to the bottom of the slots? Or are they tight to get bottomed out?
