6 String Tuned How?!

On the Ibanez website and stumbled across another magical "Workshop" bass of theirs. On first look it seemed normal, but it's stock tuned EBGDAE (low to high).

You have it backwards. It is tuned low to high EADGBE. 1 is the thinnest string by convention. I think that is not unusual.

30” scale tuned like a guitar but an octave down. Similar to the Danelectro 6 string basses from way back and the Fender Bass VI. I have 2 that I built. They can be a lot of fun.

The decision about it being a baritone guitar really comes down to the tuning. A baritone guitar is normally tuned either a 5th or a 4th lower than a standard guitar. A bass guitar is tuned 1 or 2+ octaves lower than a standard guitar. This bass guitar could be changed over to a baritone guitar, it has the right scale length.
