I'm looking for a lightweight poweramp to replace my RMX850. I'll be powering two GS112's (300w RMS) with it. Should I get the Stewart World 600 (600w briged into 4ohms) so each cab gets about 300w or should I go for the 1.2 (1200w bridged into 4ohms) so each cab gets twice it's power rating. I would be comfortable with each cab getting 400 to 500 watts but 600 watts just seems a little too much even though running at twice the power rating is supposed to be fine. On the other hand 300w per cab seems a little low. Should I go for the extra headroom of the 1.2 or run the cabs at their 300w rating with the 600? I'll even admit that my I'm being worried for no reason about the 1.2 and on paper it would be fine with plenty of headroom but I can shake the feeling that the first time I clip the poweramp I'll blow the speaker.

I'd go with the 1.2. Give yourself some headroom. You won't be pushing all the amp's power unless you turn all the way up. I'm using a Stewart 1.6 bridged into a cabinet rated for 1,000 watts, and it's no problem.
