What do you mean by "two wafer construction"?
The actual resistive element in a lot of pots is made up of two segments bonded together to approximate an audio curve, because it's much easier to sandwich or join two flat pieces together than to make a tapered single piece. And for most applications, such as electric instruments, the difference is not that critical, despite all of the debate on this thread both ways.

you are correct, but how is that two different wafers?

two different "tracks" or "traces" or "strips", maybe, which are put together onto the one "wafer" to approximate an audio (log) curve.

either way, it's linear volumes and audio (or close enough to audio) tones for the best, most even sweep out of each control.

That's not a very good way to develop opinions on things. Seems almost religious in faith.
You know, I respected your opinions when you posted them. I did disagree. I did not post personal aspersions against you. I merely gave my reasons for disagreement. And early on, I even posted a definitive place where we both agree: dual-wafer pots. That is the American Way. David is in the business. He has to know definitively so he can manufacture and market his pickups properly. I am allowed to reconsider and change my mind on the weight of the evidence from all sources, including you. It has nothing to do with religion. It has all to do with being open to consider all sources of information. Thank you for posting the chart that sets forth the different response curves of the different types of potentiometers. I found it meaningful and useful.
 
i think "wafers" actually refer to something specific in electronic parts, namely the entire "plate" of plastic or phenolic or whatever that has the connecting stuff on it; a "two-wafer" pot would be like a blend/balance, with two separate sets of 3 lugs, each set connected to their own wafer.
