I stumbled upon these guys randomly a few weeks ago on facebook. There just starting out their company. There making Aluminum guitars, witch sounds pretty cool. I think if they could get started and stay afloat that they could be a major guitar company in the future.

Travis Bean made aluminum neck / koa body basses and guitars back in the 70s. The production numbers are quite low. They have a bit of a cult following today. A friend of mine purchaced one of their basses and he still uses it today. I always thought it was a bit neck heavy with a thick wide profile. The 660 may be history repeating itself.

I remember Travis Bean. There was also Kramer who made basses with mostly aluminum necks. I knew guys that had instruments from both companies and they all had troubles keeping them in tune when playing outside. Some of them had to be tuned after every single song so they were a real PITA. Even playing indoor gigs they had to make sure to arrive early so the necks would stabilize with the temperature and then they were sort of OK until the stage got really hot from the lights. After seeing all of those headaches I want nothing to do with a neck made of metal.
