One thing that has worked for me is to record every band rehearsal and show (and curate them in a manner that allows them to be usable down the road without having to search for or through them). I've found this to be crucial for getting up to speed, both in terms of learning the tunes and for seeing where my playing isn't where it needs to be. Or maybe there's no rehearsals at all, in which case the gig recording will help with the next gig, should there be one. I think I learned this from @nostatic upon my re-entry to playing, and it's been a big help.
