7250 v. 8250

Hello my fellow bottom dwellers! I have a question: is there any difference between the Fender 7250's and 8250's, other than the 8250's having a tapered B and E? I played the 8250's on an MIM Deluxe Jazz V, and 7250's on my Squier Affinity Jazz V. I am considering the 8250's, but would like to know if there is any real tone difference. Thanks!

7250's are hexcore, I believe, and 8250's are roundcore. I've never played 7250's but I like the 8250's, and they're popular. 7150's have the classic tone.

The 7250s have more of a modern sound whereas the 8250s are warmer and sound more, well, vintage. I am getting ready to replace the 7250s on my fretless with 8250s just to see the difference.
I have used both as my roundwound "go to" strings the last few years, and have found them to be very long lasting and decent sounding.

Aren't the 8250s the same string as the 7250s but they are longer for thru body and have tapers on the E and B?

7150 all nickel hex core

7250 nickel plated steel hex core

8250 nickel plated steel round core with taper

The 7250 and 8250 sets sound a lot alike to my ears; a low-mids warm sound with a very supple feel. The 7150 sets are really warm and pretty low output; very vintage.
