Double Bass ~9 Month Hiatus of Practicing

Hey there T'Bers,

I was not sure where to post this, but I wanted to share with all of you my feelings on picking up the double bass again after a break for quite a considerable amount of time. There was no real reason for me to suddenly drop the instrument, but it just happened...

About my bass: the bass had a string setup of G+D Efrano guts, a dead Spirocore A string and a dead Spirocore E string. I was satisfied with the sound coming from the instrument with this setup, the sound was balanced, but I mindlessly changed it to a full set of new Spirocore Weichs last evening.

Boy, do I feel overjoyed to have the urge to practice and play the bass again. Past old memories kicked in and it still lingers around in my head. Upcoming Sunday there will be a jazz jam session and I am looking forward to hang with the up and coming local cats. Describing my playing as 'mediocre' is quite a generous term, but no matter what I should have fun whilst jamming with people better than me and also respectful.

Welp, I am not sure where I am headed with this, but I have been active on TalkBass since 2006 (under the name Rama, but I forgot the pass and email) and just wanted to share with you my thoughts and journey to musical maturity.

Thanks TalkBass.

Rama

P.S. It is 4:30 in the morning here, thus I cannot practise nor fall asleep...
