9+ weeks for a Carvin?

Jeff, I read your follow-up about your Carvin. My first words were about your complaints, initially. Since you wrote more, I respect you a lot more for being cool after having gotten your bass. But, I still think those words I spoke, mean a lot for many others. Plus, I think you had all of those construction problems, because of Carvin probably getting annoyed with your inquiries-sorry, but it's like complaining about food.

Jeff man, I feel you. When I ordered my 6 Ibanez, I was told it would be there on thursday, I come to find out on thursday (after getting the runaround) that it hadn't even been packed yet. I had to go and pick it up. Things like that can piss anyone off, as can the bad service you seem to be getting. HOWEVER, that being said, they are bulding it practically from scratch, while not being a full on custom company, they are building it to your specs, and they are doing this for a lot of people, so expect there to be some delays. The service you described is poor and un-proffesional, and you have every right to be miffed about that as well. Anyway, I know you got it now, I watched your reveiw video. So I got a question, do you suppose if they gave another option besides the soapbars on the Icon, would the sound be better? Also, Im willing to wait as long as they really do get my specs right, so, are the Piezos really worth it?

And forget about getting it fixed at a local shop. Carvin produces *everything* proprietary - their own wood, their own electronics, they design and build their own pickups and PC boards and the works. Replacement parts are found only at Carvin's factory, and will be put into an instrument only when they have it in their hands. You can't do it. No local music store can do it.

This is inaccurate. You can buy all of their parts off the website, and they aren't particularly non-standard. There is no reason you couldn't replace pretty much any of the parts with some other brand. The only particularly quirky thing is that their pickups are both bridge sized, which may be a little tricky to get an RWRP set with some brands.
