Details

I just bought a couple expensive basses so something has to go. Don't really want to but you know how it is.

So up for grabs (unless something else sells first) is my absolutely beastly 93 Sadowsky Modern.
I owned this bass, sold it, regretted it, bought it back 2 years later and now am about to make the same mistake because of talkbass induced GAS. This bass had been played and there is lots of wear and tear but it is still absolutely stunning and the wear on the natural wear on the nitro finish neck is what every relic'd neck aspires to be. The neck is still smooth and very easy to play. These older Sadowskys have a killer neck profile that is slim and flat on the back. There is one good ding on the bottom of the bass that can be seen in the photos and most of the other marks on the body are minor indents or minor scratches.

A previous owner installed Nordstrand Big Splits in place of the original EMG's. I still have the EMG's and they will be included with the bass. The Nordys sound fantastic though. The bridge was also upgraded by the last owner. The original bridge was a Gotoh 206 which is a really finicky and ridiculous bridge. They have inherent problems and you cannot get parts for them anymore. When the one of the saddles died the owner decided to replace it with a Hipshot Kickass bridge. Back in the 90s many people swapped out the Gotoh with a badass. It is not a direct replacement so new holes were drilled (there is no direct replacement) but all the old holes are completely covered and the new bridge is amazing and adds to the bass. The old bridge will be included in the deal as well. I had a VTC installed the first time I owned it by a Sadowsky certified tech.

Not really looking for trades as I am recouping from the recent purchases but I will consider trades for Skjold basses. Of particular interest would be a whaleback or a slayer but I will consider other Skjolds as well.

Love the natural playing wear on the neck. Lots of mojo there!

For sure Phil. When I first saw photos of this bass when I originally bought it I was concerned about the wear. it was a local deal though and when I saw it in person it became the selling point. Definitely tons of mojo. This one used to belong to Kenny Ames among others on here.

I LOVE this bass! It reminds me a lot of my personal mid-90s Sadowsky Modern 5-string with quilt top and maple board. It also has one of my favorite pickup sets and what I consider to be the 2nd-best bass bridge made (just a hair behind a Babicz full-contact bridge).

Great deal on a classic bass with some great modern upgrades, folks!!!

Gigged to tonight. Gotta take it off the market. Don’t know what I was thinking.

Those basses....... I own one from 2010. By far the best bass I ever owned, played, gigged...... It's impossible to describe how awesome they are.

Curious. Is the pre-amp original to the bass or was it traded out for a newer Sad pre when the VTC was added?? Owned this bass and it was wonderful in it's original state (EMG's, Gotoh, non-VTC). Thanks!

The preamp is the original. I had the VTC installed and jonnybass who bought it off you put the big splits in.

The saddles on the gotoh were dying and are near impossible to replace. Roger suggested the badass style replacement.

The switch is for active passive. No push pull. Other than that standard Sadowsky with boost only treble and bass and passive tone control.

I am updating trades for a Skjold Whaleback. I will consider other Skjold basses as well but I am mostly interested in Whalebacks. Long shot I know but it's worth putting it out there.

There is something about this bass! I keep looking at this thing. Normally I like clean and pristine, but this bass is intriguing!
